Jealousy, Haters and Absence of Wisdom
Daniel 6:4-9
Then the other administrators and high officers began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government affairs, but they couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy. So they concluded, “Our only chance of finding grounds for accusing Daniel will be in connection with the rules of his religion.”
So the administrators and high officers went to the king and said, “Long live King Darius! We are all in agreement—we administrators, officials, high officers, advisers, and governors—that the king should make a law that will be strictly enforced. Give orders that for the next thirty days any person who prays to anyone, divine or human—except to you, Your Majesty—will be thrown into the den of lions. And now, Your Majesty, issue and sign this law so it cannot be changed, an official law of the Medes and Persians that cannot be revoked.” So King Darius signed the law.
Wow, so as you can tell, Haters, existed back then. And they acted in pure jealousy just like they do today. Daniel had some haters that didn't like his position. Because of who he was IN GODS EYES he had been blessed to a wonderful position under King Darius. And he was hated on even more, because they couldn't find anything wrong with him. They wanted to get him knocked off his position, but could not find any kind of justifiable reason. So they used his good and tried to use it against him. They manipulated Daniel's environment in order to get him to break the law. Daniels devotion to God caused him to break worldly law.
Now, I'm sure a couple of you may have some "well, what's the point if you can devote yourself to God and then still end up doing wrong cause you break the law!?" Well, my point is that even though Daniel was completely devoted to God, God protected him in the world. See, the haters tried to turn the world around on Daniel to get him killed. But God turned everything around to make sure that Justice was had against God's innocent child. My point in this is that Haters will do whatever they can to get you off track. Don't let them. Stay focused. Stick to the plan.
Now that we have covered Jealousy and Haters above. Now lets go for Lack of Wisdom.
In the same story, I'd like to focus on King Darius. He put Daniel into a wonderful position in the kingdom as his Chief Advisor. The position that also got Daniel his haters. Things were going well for King Darius prior to these events. Until the haters came to him with this "great" idea of how to get the people to worship the King and no one else for 30 days. A plan they concocted only to have Daniel killed. But King Darius, in his innocent pride, thought it was a wonderful idea. And rather than taking the idea to his Chief Advisor or any of his other advisors he excitedly went ahead and sealed the new law. The law that would ultimately sentence his own best friend to death.
In this, I pray that we all (preaching to myself as well) always seek our own Chief Advisors before making major decisions. If you are married, get agreement with your spouse. And after you have that, seek blessing from our God. For without seeking the input from your Chief Advisor, you can set yourself or even your prized possession(s) to fail or lead them to ultimate doom.
Think about it family. I love you all. Be Blessed!!
