Hope For Single Parents
Hey Family,
I know that I have already sent a post, but I needed to get this special one out today.
As the day has gone on and I've gone to service, and I've been thinking about the successes I've seen in my life and in the lives of the people I love around me. I can't help but to think of something very special. 21 years ago today I was away in my freshman year at college. I got a call that my sister had gone into labor. It was an amazing day for me. Stressful because I could not be there, but it was amazing regardless. Even though I was not the one having a baby, in my heart, I was. That little boy coming into the world from that day forth would forever and always be called my own first born son. And even though it would be 6 years before I became a mother myself, my nephew was always my first born son. He just had that piece of my heart.
After I moved across the country to Arizona, I was losing my mind dealing with my own mess. But also wondering if my nephew was behaving or if I needed to go and find a way home to lay the smack down on him. LOL! But little did I know that God had my baby covered. Not only did He have my baby covered, He had my sister covered so she didn't lose her mind. Not only did God have my baby and my sister covered, but He had my parents covered so they didn't lose their minds either. Raising a child in this day is much harder than it was when we were being raised. Anyone, single parent, 2 parent family, blended family, can attest to that.
My sister was raising my nephew as a single mom. She was doing all she could do with my parents support. Like many single parents, there was drama in her life. But like many other single parents, she made it through.
So today, after 21 years, I just wanted to tell my beautiful Sister, Dolly...
CONGRATULATIONS DEE!!! YOU DID IT!!!!! YOU RAISED AN AMAZING MAN!!!! HE MADE IT TO 21 OUT OF NEW HAVEN AS A HANDSOME BLACK/LATINO MAN, EDUCATED WITH NO CHILDREN AND NO ARREST RECORD!!!! TAKE A BOW!!!!
And if you ever leave room for the enemy into your mind and make you wonder if you did enough for your (our) son, you can always refer to these scriptures it it will remind you that you DID YOUR JOB!
