For My R&B and Hip Hop Heads.....

What's up Everyone, I promise not to be all scriptural today. This is just me being real.

So, I have that spirit that sees Jesus and His messages in everything I see and everything I hear. I was not always this way. Many can tell you. But I've had a wonderful journey of conversion with the Lord. Well, today on my prayer walk on my lunch break as I prayed, suddenly a song that I had not heard in a long time popped in my head. It was in direct relation to my own prayer asking the Lord to teach me how to love like He did. Then suddenly I was singing......

You had a lot of crooks try'na steal your heart,
Never really had luck.
Couldn't ever figure out,
How to Love... How to Love...

You had a lot of moments that didn't last forever

Now you're in a corner try'na put it together
How to love, How to love...

Thank you for this song Lil Wayne. This part of the song reminded me of all those times that I was looking for love in all the wrong places and in all the wrong ways. Thinking that I could get one of these dudes to be "the one". To this day, I can't tell you "who" I was looking for in all those "crooks". But i just knew that I was gonna be the one that could get some dude straight and fall in love. Uh, right.  Then there were those moments that didn't last forever. Then when it was all said and done, I was in the corner trying to put it together. What happened with another relationship? Yup, that was it, I didn't know how to love, MYSELF. FIRST AND FOREMOST.

Then I was just now watching the rerun of the BET Awards that was on last night. And I just watched a performance by Fat Joe (one of my favorites when I was listening to mostly secular music), French Montana and Remy Ma. It's a new song that is out. It's called All The Way Up. I could not tell you anything that is said in the actual verses, but the chorus really struck me, for real for real.

Nothing can stop me, I'm all the way up
All the way up
I'm all the way up
I'm all the way up
Nothing can stop me, I'm all the way up

This song is the total opposite for me of the Lil Wayne song. This song (at least just the chorus because I just read some of the rest of the lyrics  and this song is a little much for me!) is like a Victory Chant for me! I've gone through so much and it's not about going through as much as it is that I Learned From It! And I don't and won't boast in myself, cause it's not about me. It's about what God has done through me. But compared to my life 2, 3, 4 years ago, that's just how I feel!!! I'm all the way up!!! Nothing can stop me cause God is on my side, so I'm all the way up!!!

So now, what I would love for you to see, even if it's by my own testimonies, is that all my grown family and friends can get out of the "How to Love" stage and then get "All The Way Up". In this way, we can show all our sons and daughters that if WE can do it, as stubborn and independent as we all are/were. If we can get it right, then they can do it too!!! Lets show them how!!!! If we don't teach them, who will? Don't forget who else is trying to teach them things. That devil, and he uses everything he used on us. The World and Our Wordly desires. Don't let that enemy get to your kids!!! Keep them protected!!! In Jesus Name!!!

Be Blessed!!!! I Love You All!!!!
