Trust God and Leap!!!!

Morning Family!!!!!

I was just thinking about something that keeps coming up at me. Seems like every few weeks I’m either hearing about something that needs to take a leap of FAITH. Or I’m hearing about someone that TOOK a leap of FAITH. Or hearing about someone that is about to take a leap of FAITH. And again just now, I remembered someone who makes Saturday rounds who knocked on my door to talk about Christ and give me a booklet. I’d spoken to her before, but this time she wanted to know how I handle and go about having bible study with my kids. Now, anytime anyone mentions “at-home bible studies” with kids, I always remember this one study day that the kids absolutely loved. It’s one of my favorite stories in the bible. I just can relate to it sooooo well. And this particular story also had an underlying message of someone needing to take a leap of FAITH. Or in this case a “roll” of FAITH. Let’s look at the story really quick.

John 5:5-7

5 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda,[a] having five porches.  3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.  4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.[b]  5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.  6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

Ok, so I’m sorry. Here’s how I get so wound up about this question and response. This poor sick man had already been at the pool. HE KNEW ABOUT WHAT THE ANGEL DID IN VERSE 4. So he believed (FAITH) that all he had to do was get his tail in that water and he’d be able to walk again. After 38 years!! Come on now! That’s amazing!!!!! Let someone tell me that all I had to do was fall in some water in order to be healed of something. But what troubled me was that Jesus asked him if he wanted to be made well. And that answer……

“Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

You know, so many times in our lives we are LOOKING right at our deliverance. Or right at our blessing. Or right at our promise. It’s in front of our face. And what do we do? We let something get in the way. This lame man had his healing right in front of him and KNOWING that once he was in the water he’d be healed, he STILL was waiting on SOMEONE ELSE to do something to get him in the water. I am known in my old flesh as Ms. Independent. I was never in my life going to wait on someone to do something for me. Not when I can get it done myself and not have to wait on anyone. And especially not when there was a guaranteed win. Honestly, at times I’m still that way. A lot of people call that being Impulsive. But if the guaranteed win is there, why not go for it??  That’s what you call a:

LEAP OF FAITH

Truth be told, a whole lot of us do it. “I didn’t start the business because I was waiting on…”, “I didn’t make the move because of…” and my favorite, “I haven’t started paying my full tithe yet because of…”.  Now the “…” at the end of all these things are probably absolutely legitimate, in your own mind. But that’s why this is all called a Leap of FAITH. And please remember what FAITH is.

Definition of FAITH According to Hebrews 11:1

Pick the translation that speaks to you!

  • New Living Translation:   FAITH is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

  • King James Version:   Now FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

  • Darby Bible Translation:   Now FAITH is the substantiating of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

  • World English Bible:   Now FAITH is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

  • Young's Literal Translation:   And FAITH is of things hoped for a confidence, of matters not seen a conviction,

For anyone that doesn’t understand the definition of FAITH scripturally, here it is according to our good ol friend Google.
    FAITH          /fāTH/
    noun: FAITH
    1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
    2. strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

Ok, so basically, FAITH is what makes you say “I have no clue how this is going to happen, but I Believe God will work it all out and I’m going to take the chance.” Here are some examples of statements of FAITH:

  • I have no clue how God is going to work out this bill, but I have FAITH that if I pay these tithes like I’m supposed to, God will handle ALL my finances and I won’t need to worry.
  • I have no clue how I’m going to get this business off the ground, but I have FAITH if I put it on a website or actually open my mouth, that God will direct the right people to me.
  • I have no clue how I’m going to get healed, but I have FAITH that God will do it!
  • I have no clue if my children will ever be Saved, but I have FAITH if I keep on praying GOD WILL present the Damascus Road experience they need!
  • I have no clue if I’ll ever find my husband/wife, but I have FAITH that God will make our paths cross.

FAITH is simple. It is trusting in God for what you CANNOT SEE for yourself! Now yes, I said it’s simple, but sometimes it’s the hardest thing to do. To Have FAITH. But the beautiful thing about FAITH, is when Your FAITH’s foundation stands in Proverbs 3:5 then you have something to build some FAITH on.

    New Living Translation
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

Put those 2 together, and you got some power to work with.

I love you all!!!!!!! Be Blessed!!!!!!!
