From Dream To Destiny
Hi Family,
It truly has been a minute since I've posted anything, and if that affected you negatively in any way, I apologize. Everyone hits a time in their lives where the storms come and sometimes they winds blow a little harder than before, and the rain is a little more torrential than before, and sometimes the damage left is more than you had ever imagined you could have. But we are always Victorious on the other side when we anchor ourselves to Him (Hebrews 6:19) and lean not to our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5) along the way.
So at my church, we recently completed a small series that has stuck to me in a way that messages sometimes do when you know there is still more for you to see. The topic was "Destiny Over Dreams". It was a really great series with a lot of cut and dry truth. Sometimes your toes got stepped on and all you could do was say ouch and keep getting your word.
The other day I was listening to someone I've mentioned before in my posts and I have to talk about him again because he is very real about his testimony, and his journey to salvation has been lived out in public view.
Mr Willie Moore Jr. www.williemoorejr.org
I hope he will forgive me for using him as an example, but i'm sure he will understand as well. Willie Moore Jr is a prime example of a person who, early on, was just following his Music Dreams and messed around and bumped into his Destiny in a way that he was likely NOT expecting. As I listened to him on the radio after work one day this week, it all just hit me like a ton of bricks! And I wondered if he had any realization of what God did for, and in him! I mean, I know he knows what God did for him, but when you see how God used all the tools He gave Willie, you see a miracle in motion!
You see this Man of God was out there with his hustle, chasing his dream of being a recording artist. Many of you recognize the name "Pretty Willie". He was really good and was getting a good start. But as he was growing, there were others that were growing in his genre one step ahead of him. It was the rise of the Ginuwine and Nelly. It kind of reminded me of the lame man at the pool (John 5:1-15). Willie wanted and needed the exposure, he wanted the big contract, but someone else continued to get there just before him. (Here I also wonder, How discouraged was Willie Moore Jr each time things seemed to not go as planned? But that's a post for another day. And I'll try NOT to use Willie Moore Jr as my "subject person" again. LOL!)
I will leave the testimony of how he came to salvation to his words. He tells it best. But the point was that it was in chasing his dream, that he messed around and unknowingly was beginning the journey to his destiny. You see, as i listened to Willie on the radio last week, I realized that Willie's gift from God was Music. God gave him that gift. With that, God knew he would chase music. But God also knew when and what it would take for Willie's heart to be converted and suddenly "P. Willie" transformed into "Willie Moore Jr" and his music genre changed with his heart and he began to make music that gave God glory and Raised up God to the level He should always be! He came into a spiritually rewarding music ministry, does public speaking engagements, is an author and he is truly a comedian! That's on top of being an AMAZING husband to the beautiful and very real Mrs Patricia Moore and father to 3 hilarious boys and a gorgeous baby girl. He's a pretty busy dude. (But Sorry Willie, i'm on team Tricia! She got a lot going on in the support department!!!! Get it Girl!!!)
Even with all of this, I thought, wow, God is pretty amazing. Gave him a musical gift, and then converted how Willie used that gift and now he gives God glory. But then it hit me, God never does anything simple. He always does more than we could ever ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20) so Willie's story was clearly not done. You see, I imagine God looking down at us and saying, "No, that's not good enough for my child. I have even better for you to come.".
That's how I saw God looking down at Willie Moore Jr after his heart change. In my imagination, I saw God say "I have enough of my children praising my name all about the land. I have a team of faithful children with your same gift, who just love to worship me and are also out there doing much good work. I don't need you to do that also. I gave you a gift to be used FOR YOUR DESTINY, not just for right now, so don't get used to it." God is a God of constant work (Philippians 2:13) and He did not intend for Willie to just Praise and Worship. Then I thought about it and said, God is right. The music industry is so finite. You either like the genre or you don't. I may like "Christian" music, but not "Gospel". I may like "Christian R&B" and not "Christian Rap". So Willie was still in a place where his reach was still very limited.
So what does God do with His ever amazing self? He did what Willie himself never imagined. God put Willie in a place where his word and his praise and his testimony could be heard state to state in the US. God put Willie Moore Jr on the Radio!!! He is no longer just a 3-4 minute inspirational song that you catch on the fly. He is now, in addition to his music career, public speaking, and all else that he does, athour long voice of inspiration, hope, faith, laughter, and joy on the radio!
Who knew??? Willie is in a journey of his DESTINY! But had it not been for his DREAM, I believe he would not have made it to the radio. So when you are out there chasing your dream, think about it. This gift that God gave me that has me chasing this dream could possibly be what drives me to my destiny! Even if I am successful in my dream, it is still a dream! Dreams end! They are finite! They have an end! You can retire from a dream career. A dream car can be lost in a crash or breakdown and die. A dream house can be taken down in a storm. And your dream family may not be founded on solid ground (Luke 6:48-49) and it may fall apart. But your Destiny stands forever because God set it before we were born (Ecclesiastes 6:10)!
If we know God the way we HOPE we know God, Willie's destiny is not yet complete. I know mine is absolutely not. And i'm sure many of you now realize that yours is not either! When chasing your dream, remember to keep yourself Anchored to God, follow His lead, and you can find yourself going...
